Norman Gaudie (ca. 1887-1954), an Absolutist, was imprisoned at Richmond Castle before being taken to France and sentenced to death, commuted to ten years. Dr T.E. Harvey was a member of a prominent Quaker family from Leeds. He represented the West Leeds constituency as a Liberal MP from 1910 to 1918, and then Dewsbury from 1923 to 1924.
